BCM Program – How many Plans?

Business Continuity Planning starts with setting the Program Objectives. Is the focus on recovering IT infrastructure that support the delivery of products & services? Is it about ensuring continuity of business? Or, is it responding to a natural calamity impacting your site or region?

To achieve your Program Objectives, different stakeholders have to define pragmatic response strategies based on the organization’s current capabilities. Plausible strategies may include: transfer functions, transfer staff, restore operations and/ or recover assets.

Some or all of those – plus Crisis Management, Emergency Response, Pandemic Response  and Incident Management Plans – may be necessary to assure that your organization is prepared to respond to any disruption to operations.

The number of plans that make up your BCM program should be aligned to the program objective, here is an infographics that provides a starting point of your deliberation.
